Vrchlabí Music Summer 2025

Monastery Church of St. Augustine

A series of classical music concerts. A traditional summer festival of classical music in the heart of the Krkonoše Mountains. In 2025, the Střelnice Cultural Center will host the 30th anniversary edition of the festival in the beautiful premises of the Monastery Church of St. Augustine in Vrchlabí.

Summer evenings with classical music, but not only that, have been among the leading cultural events of the town and the Krkonoše region for XXX years. The Vrchlabí Music Summer traditionally takes place in the monastery of St. Augustine, a Baroque gem of the Krkonoše Mountains and also the necropolis of the Morzin family. It was Count Václav Morzin (1675–1737) and his support for the Italian composer, later renowned Antonio Vivaldi, that gave rise to the concert series VIVALDI MORZIN IN MEMORIAM as part of the Vrchlabí Music Summer.

The monastery concerts have a clear dramaturgical concept – top performers, perfect musical arrangements, and European or even global concert experience. At the same time, thanks to close cooperation with the Karel Halíř Elementary Art School, young musicians from the Vrchlabí music school also get a chance to perform in the program. The Vrchlabí Music Summer also includes a September concert commemorating the violin virtuoso and Vrchlabí native Karel Halíř.

In previous years, the best Czech and European musicians have performed in Vrchlabí, many of whom are now permanently based in the United States, Germany, and elsewhere. Visitors to the Sunday concerts were able to hear performances by Jiří Bárta (cello), Vilém Veverka (oboe), Tomáš Kačo (piano), Ivan Ženatý (violin), Elizabeth Pitcairn (violin), Václav Hudeček (violin), Ludger Lohmann (organ), Jana Boušková (harp), Jiří Stivín (flute), Stanislav Galin (piano), and many other soloists and musical ensembles.

If circumstances allow, future editions will also feature outstanding performers.

In 2025, you can look forward to the following concerts:
