Get to know Vrchlabí with us. The nature trails will take you to the green corners of the town, reveal some of its charm and history, and enjoy the views of the mountains.
Water trail through the city park
The city park comes alive with water and you can take the Water Trail! Can you find the pools hidden in the city park? Along the nature trail you will walk past restored old ponds, discover dragonfly ponds and enjoy views of Vrchlabí and the nearby mountains.
Vesplachy Leisure Time Park
Take a few steps out of town, and you are in green countryside that will refresh your body and soul. Just come to relax and forget your everyday worries walking around a lake, on a causeway through a natural site, or sit down on the lake shore with a good coffee. Children may try their skills on a pumptrack, in a skatepark, on trampolines, ride a bike or enjoy the children’s playground.
Leviathan (The Whale's Tail) by Jan Gemrot
Another exceptional work has been installed on Vrchlabí’s Church Square (Náměstí Míru)—the sculpture Leviathan (The Whale’s Tail) by Czech painter and visual artist Jan Gemrot. This monumental object thus temporarily, once again for a year, becomes part of the city’s life and enters into a direct dialogue with its historic space and daily rhythm.
Poetry Box
Turn the crank and the metal tube or poesiomat will offer you cultural, but also sports or natural icons associated with the town and the region. For example, the soundtrack from the film Hoří, má panenko, the sounds of the Elbe River or recordings of the Olympic medal rides of local natives Karolína Erbanová and Eva Samková.
Modern aqua centre and swimming pool
The pleasant surroundings of the new aquatic centre with a beautiful view of the wooden pier with a fisherman's house are just the right relaxation after a cold day or a spring trip. And there is something for everyone, both relaxation and fun: a swimming pool with four lanes, a paddling pool, a whirlpool, a water slide and slides, a wild river and a steam cabin.
The Krkonossky National Park visitor centre
The new Krkonossky National Park visitor centre follows up on the popular past exhibitions called Stone and Life and Man and the Mountains, in the Augustinian Monastery. The National Park Administration has created a new exhibition in the Krkonose Museum which documents the story of the Krkonose, reflecting both its unique nature and the coexistence of man and nature.
A new information center will open on Náměstí Míru this spring
The old town hall, located near St. Lawrence Church, has been given a facelift, and following a complete renovation, the Krkonoše Regional Tourist Information Center is preparing to move into the space. We will keep you informed about the grand opening date!
Stolpersteine: Stones of the Disappeared
A contemporary memorial to Jewish fellow citizens in towns are the Stolpersteine, cobblestones with text on a brass surface, which are placed at the site of the deceased’s last residence. In Vrchlabí, these commemorate Heinrich Jelinek and the married couple Karel and Johanna Nettl. You can find them near the wooden footbridge in front of Kartonka and on Krkonošská Street in front of house no. 150.
Weather Column
This significant piece of small-scale architecture is one of 111 weather columns in the Czech Republic. It is located on the main street (Krkonošská) and was erected in 1909 by mounting a sandstone base with a weather box, likely purchased from the firm Wilhelm Lambrecht in Göttingen as sales model III “Tourist.”

The mobile game Hidden Stories takes you back in time to the past, where three stories introduce you to interesting personalities connected with Vrchlabí. You will always find an interesting story with small tasks and an easy sightseeing route not only around the city. Accept the invitation to walk along the final resting places of important personalities connected with the history of the Krkonoše town of Vrchlabí. In addition, you will enjoy the peace and quiet that the cemetery usually provides, complemented by beautiful views of the town and the surrounding hills.
Questing with Gendorf
Explore the beauty of Vrchlabí with one of the most important figures in the town's history. Questing with Gendorf will show you where to go. Questing is a fun game for children and adults, reminiscent of a "treasure hunt". Four quests guide you through each stop looking for clues to solve the mystery and continue on your way. When you complete the entire route, you'll get the wording of the clue that will lead you to the treasure. You can choose shorter or longer routes:
- With Gendorf through the city centre - 2,5 km
- With Gendorf along the Harta - 5 km
- With Gendorf to Peklo (Hell) and back - 9 km
- With Gendorf to Kačák - 5,5 km

Culture is an integral part of humanity and enriches us, develops us and broadens our horizons. If you feel even a slight lack of it, do not hesitate to go to one of the performances or concerts at the Střelnice Cultural House, to see new and older quality films at the Kartonka 1904 Cinema, or to one of the exhibitions at the Krkonose Museum or the Mole (KCEV Krtek).
Farmers’ markets on TGM Square
With the arrival of spring, the traditional farmers’ market begins, offering high-quality Czech crops and products. The market takes place every 14 days on Fridays in odd-numbered weeks from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
