Labska Hiking Trail
Vrchlabi is a town on the River Labe (the Elbe). This, the longest Czech river, is only starting its journey here – it is fresh, clean and lively. You can take a hike along its course on an 8-km long trail to Horejsi Vrchlabi with the local breweries, or you can hit the pedals and ride along the Labska cycle track which runs through the town, marked as No. 2.
T.G. Masaryk Square and the Baroque townhall
Dating back to 1737, the building is now used by the town council and the information centre.
Church of St. Lawrence
This church was built in the Neo-Gothic style by a local builder, Eduard Zirm, on the site of a 14th century single-nave Gothic church, following a project by architect Stephan Tragl of Prague. The construction took place in 1886–1889.
Chapel of St. Anne
The chapel, built in 1832 on the bank of the River Labe, is dedicated to St. Anne, patron of the town of Vrchlabi. It was reconstructed in 2002–2003, faithfully employing the historical materials used, including a small well inside the chapel, fed with water from Stavidlovy Hill.
Old Blacksmith’s Shop and the Chapel in Horejsi Vrchlabi
The old blacksmith’s shop is a protected national monument as it is one of the most valuable examples of traditional Krkonose architecture.
Pod Zalym junction
Situated at an altitude of 1019 m a.s.l., Zaly is the oldest stone viewing tower in the Krkonose. It was built by Count Harrach in 1892. In summer and winter, you can take a chair lift from Herlikovice to get there.
Hendrych and Pivovarska basta microbreweries
Two of Vrchlabi’s original microbreweries can be seen on this trail. Whether you decide for the bitter and full taste of Hendrych, or some of the delicious special Medved beers, you cannot go wrong.
Weir with a Small Power Station
The weir underwent massive reconstruction in 2009–2010. The original sliding gate system was replaced with a new tilting gate system. A fishway was built, which allows aquatic animals to migrate in both directions, together with a small hydroelectric station. The tilting gate system allows easy weir control and improves the flow capacity of the riverbed during high floods. The waterwork is the property of the Labit company.
House with Seven Gables
One of the oldest private houses in Vrchlabi, it looks like a rural chalet adapted to life in the town.
